I originally got into the music business to make rock & roll records. Though my experience covers a wide range of music and styles, during my career I have made more classical albums than anything else. This entails most notably working on over 20 albums with the Nashville Symphony, various solo records with faculty members of Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music (including "The Sea Knows" by composer Michael Kurek, which spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Traditional Classical chart), and the currently Grammy-nominated album by composer Jonathan Leshnoff, "Symphony No. 4 'Heichalos'; Guitar Concerto; Starburst".
My career started at Quad Studios Nashville on Music Row after graduating with a double major from the Recording Industry Department of MTSU. Following this, I spent some time working at Treasure Isle Studio in Berry Hill, TN and The Bennett House Recording Studios in Franklin, TN before branching out into full-time freelance recording, mixing, and producing.
My experience in commercial recording studios is extensive and I am well versed in multi-track rock, pop, country, hip-hop, metal, Americana, R&B, bluegrass, and jazz album production. I've recorded, edited, and mixed numerous albums with artists that have been nominated - and have won - multiple Grammy awards.
I frequently record on location in concert halls, performing arts centers, and nonstandard environments including houses of worship. I regularly work with both small chamber ensembles and large ensembles such as string quartets, piano trios, orchestras, and wind symphonies. I also specialize in live multi-track and broadcast recording/mixing.
In addition to working on album projects and doing live recording, I have also worked in live sound reinforcement, having toured all over the United States and Europe mixing front of house (and occasionally monitors) for national acts.
